Alaska Bushflying Experience 2016:
An unforgettable trip for any fan of aviation
After spending several seasons in Alaska and been in the biggest aeronautical events that bring together all state`s pilots, meet several flight schools and flying in different conditions: snow, floats or 35” wheels, we have decided to prepare a trip to the delight any aviation fan. An unforgettable journey that will make you see the world of aviation from another perspective …
Alaska has an area comparable to three times the size of Spain but very few roads, since 90% of the state is not connected by road, and a small population, a total of about 700,000 people; however, the percentage of pilots is 6 times higher than the rest of the USA and the number of aircraft is 16 times higher than other American state, what means more than 11,500 pilots and 12,000 aircraft in Alaska and many more in summer.
There are more than 600 airports, although only 8 with control tower and over 3000 strips, most of which are privated.
Flight plan is not mandatory, no fees are charged and off airport operations or bushflying, are allowed even in national parks.
Thats why aviation in Alaska is more developed than anywhere else in the world, because it`s used as public transportation, but mostly like a private way of transport, like we do with cars everywherelse.
Experience by yourself this aeronautical way of life and fly over its amazing and varied landscapes, wil be for sure an unforgettable adventure.
Travel dates have been selected to combine the two major aviation events in Alaska, the AIRMENSHOW or Alaska Aviation Gathering, the main Alaska Air Show, which takes place the first weekend of May in Anchorage and the Valdez Stol Competition, the world’s most famous bushflying competition, held the second weekend of May in beautiful coastal town of Valdez.
Between these two events, a training course on ski plane, to learn the skills to fly on snow, landing on skis, including theoretical, translated if necessary and 8 hours of flight. For non pilots partners or friends, 5 hours of sightseeing flying around the area of Talkeetna and Denali National Park are included.
This year we have not included a visit to Ultima Thule lodge, where we work the whole season, because its high prices and trying to get a more affordable price, but if you are interested, we could do it at the end of Valdez. Inquire for prices.
Would be also possible to extend the trip, arriving before or staying longer.. just ask for more options that suits your desires.
